Washington dumped by Oregon, 53-16

The Washington Huskies kept it close early before things got out of hand in a 53-16 loss to the No. 1 Oregon Ducks.

The Huskies were able to hold Oregon scoreless in the first quarter and trailed by only 12 at halftime.

In fact, the game was still tied at 3-3 more than midway through the second quarter, making you wonder if it might turn into a tight one.

The second half was a completely different story as the floodgates finally opened and Oregon took control. ( Read More…)

Huskies to benefit from Pac-10 realignment?

Jason Herres of Bleacher Report breaks down how the new Pac-10 realignment affects the Washington Huskies football program. Herres mentions the added benefits in recruiting and revenue among other areas.

Huskies fans shouldn’t get too excited, though. While adding Colorado gives the Pac-10 entry into the coveted Denver media market, the real prize of realignments was the University of Texas, which the conference failed to land. As a result, the increase in revenue is sure to be tempered, even with a new conference TV network likely to be created. ( Read More…)

Huskies get new conference foe

The Colorado Buffaloes saw the writing on the wall and have bolted to the Pac-10 conference.

The Pac-10 was considering both Baylor and Colorado but preferred the Buffaloes because of the Denver market. It’s a good move for Colorado given that it looks more and more likely that the Big 12 will dissolve. It also gives Colorado the best conference to join geographically since it is not all that far from the West Coast.

Colorado had struggled in recent seasons in both basketball and football in the Big 12, so the move could also serve to improve their performances.
